Should stakePoolTargetNum (k) be raised from 500 to 1000? (SPO poll)

gov_action17m7nv7839mw…qq6g5mt9

What it asks

This poll asks the community, and stake pool operators in particular, whether there is enough SPO support to later propose raising the parameter k from 500 to 1000. k sets the target number of fully saturated pools; raising it would halve the saturation point (from 0.2% to 0.1% of circulating ADA), which would push large pools to split and spread stake across more operators. Info actions are recorded polls only — this one changes nothing on chain by itself and cannot be 'enacted'.

Why it matters to you

If you delegate to a large pool, a later k change could affect which pools are saturated and your rewards. If you run a small pool, it could make it easier to attract stake.

About

About Ratify Weekly

Ratify Weekly is an independent, plain-English briefing on Cardano governance. Each issue covers every live governance action, what it does, who it affects, and how DReps, SPOs and the Constitutional Committee are voting.

Ratify Weekly is AI-assisted: briefings are drafted with AI tools and every figure is sourced from on-chain data and linked to its source.

Not affiliated with Intersect, IOG, the Cardano Foundation, EMURGO or any other Cardano entity.

Methodology

  • Data comes from public sources — Koios, GovTool, AdaStat, Cardanoscan, and proposal metadata anchored on chain. Every number links back to its source and is dated by epoch. Example data is labelled as such.
  • We explain the arguments on each side and do not tell readers how to vote.
  • Any conflicts of interest relevant to an issue are disclosed in that issue.

Want more? Optional paid tiers

The weekly briefing is free. Paid tiers add deeper analysis for people who vote or advise.
